Anesthetic Management of Inguinal Hernia Surgery Using a Second-Generation Supraglottic Airway in a Patient With Trisomy 18: A Case Report

Children with trisomy 18 have abnormal airway anatomy, making their management challenging. Only a few papers comprehensively described and discussed the use of supraglottic devices in patients 18. We present case 20-month-old boy who was scheduled for open repair right inguinal hernia. He had micrognathia, short neck, an atrial septal defect but clinically stable condition. A device inserted under general anesthesia. The patient’s respiration maintained by pressure support ventilation spontaneous breathing. ilioinguinal-iliohypogastric nerve block performed perioperative analgesia. surgery ended without complications. After removing ensuring proper respiratory parameters, patient transferred to post-anesthesia care unit. In our case, could be effectively used as primary hernia repair. concomitant helpful anesthetic breathing using ventilation. may potential alternative superficial pediatric For difficult airways, second-generation insertion gastric tube prevent insufflation combining positive end-expiratory beneficial choice maintenance
